My droid is COMPLETE!

I have finished all the major work on R2. I need to thank a few people who, without their help, this would not have happened.

1. Mike Senna - For the inspiration to build a droid.
2. Victor Franco - For all his help and support. (You can have your front foot back!!!)
3. Vincent Sanchez - Without Vince, I would probably still be waiting on parts! Vince let me store R2 at his house while I worked on things, machined parts for me, lent me parts and overall was a great friend during this project.
4. Matthew Hendricks - Without Matt, my guy would still have nekid feets! Thanks for all you hard work on that Matt!!
5. R2 Builders club - Info....info....info!

I still have a few things I want to do, but as of yesterday, by boy is available for events. So I did one. The Knapp family had an event at their church. So alone with a few 501st members and Victors R2, we made our 1st appearance yesterday. Kids and adults seemed to enjoy the R2 (As I knew they would). Mike Senna event told me how well the droid turned out. Hearing that from the "Godfather" of Droid building was awesome!  I have posted some images in the gallery of the event.

So thank you to everyone who put up with me on my build!!!

Thanks to Matt Hendricks (Droid Builder of the Year) I got my foot shell, battery boxes and front foot completed and installed yesterday. With these complete, my droids lower body is 100% finished!

  Well Mike knows how to throw a party!!! There were a ton of Builders and Droids! Food was good, builders were great and the Droids were awesome! Thanks for letting invade your house again Mike and Amy!

R2 now has a CO2 extinguisher. Vince and I got it installed yesterday. The nozzle is not in its final resting place, gonna get that all secured next weekend.

 

Hope to have some good news on the feet shells this week. I hope to have them all cut and on the droid for R2LA V!!!

After a hard 6 days, C4 is over! The Droid room was the hit of the party! I am so happy I got R2-A1 in there. I heard a lot of great comments about my boy. Made all the hard work worth it.

I picked up my drive train parts today from my buddy Matthew H! We did a fit to make sure everything went together ok and everything looks good. I need to show the set up to Victor F. and Mike S. and get their approval before I move on :)
